With the recent full-on commitment to deep learning and robotics by colossal companies like Google, Facebook, and IBM, machines that think are becoming indispensable. So indispensable, in fact, that an economy powered mainly by artificial intelligence seems inevitable.

But should humans consider this a threat? How can we compete with intelligent entities that are faster and more accurate than we are—and don’t even require sleep? The answer: We won’t. Machines won’t usurp humans as the dominant beings on the planet. Instead, they’ll augment our efforts, freeing us from the mundane, repetitive tasks that hold us back.

See Rocket Fuel Chairman and CEO George John at South By Southwest as he talks about the exciting (and limitless) things made possible by this disruptive phenomenon. Find out what we are capable of now that the best and brightest minds are set to improving AI—and making our species even greater. The presentation will be part of SXSW’s Future15, a group of talks chosen from more than 3,300 proposals via the SXSW PanelPicker as the best of the best.
